THE SCHOOL BROADCASTING NETWORK INC & FUNKY KIDS RADIO

ABOUT FUNKY KIDS RADIO

Funky Kids Radio is owned and operated by The School Broadcasting Network Inc, a registered youth charity based in Melbourne, Australia. Our network is extremely honoured to have Dame Jane Goodall as SBN's International Patron, world renowned futurist and best selling author Dr Peter Ellyard as National Patron, Gary Young OAM as National Patron (Arts) and Dr Paul Ramos as our International Ambassador. SBN's aim via Funky Kids Radio is to offer really healthy, commercial-free content for children and to support independent artists, children's entertainers and story tellers from around Australia and the world, by sharing their music and stories with Funky Kids Radio's extensive global audience.

Funky Kids Radio provides a wonderful, eclectic selection of family-friendly music from around the world (including classical music) 24/7, with stories on the hour, every hour (except when Primary Perspectives or other 1 hour shows are broadcasting), plus educational podcasts for young people, by young people, on a wide range of topics, that grown-ups enjoy too! FKR is a keen supporter of indie artists and children's entertainers globally and the station carries a very high percentage of music from independent artists from all over the world, including songs in many languages. The Kiwi Kids Hour broadcasts every day of the week and features a wide collection of songs from New Zealand Artists in both English and Te Reo Māori, plus Kuken Kids Time broadcasts daily and features artists from Europe, with songs in German, Swiss, French, English and Spanish. All content is suitable for preschoolers to upper primary level children and our podcasts are a great resource for students, as well as for parents and teachers too.

Rachel and Michael Cooper launched Funky Kids Radio in 2010 to offer a content appropriate radio station especially for ‘tiny tots to tweens’ and at that time Funky Kids Radio was the very  FIRST 24/7 online streaming children’s radio station licensed in Australia. SBN added the online children's station Funky Kids Radio to its portfolio in July 2016 and Rachel continues to consult for Funky Kids Radio from time to time. SBN extends admiration and appreciate to both Rachel and Michael for their vision and dedication in creating such a great children's radio station!
