Vanessa Cox
Vanessa Cox is a 16-year-old singer/songwriter who has been performing extensively around Melbourne since the age of just 5. Her passion for music has led her to many opportunities to perform on the same stages as some of Melbourne’s best artists including Fatai V, Harrison Craig, Bella Paige, Finnin, Frank Dixon and many more. Currently Vanessa is very excited to be working on her debut EP that is due for release in 2016.
Her song ‘Inside Out’, which is being debuted the Music Matters Charity Album, holds a very personal meaning for Vanessa, as she wrote it for a very dear friend of hers who was suffering from depression at the time. The song is about how life gets tough for everyone, though eventually time heals our wounds. Vanessa hopes that through this song, she can show support to anyone in the wider community that is going through a tough time and that ‘Inside Out’ can act as a voice that lets people know they are cared about and that things will eventually get better.
Vanessa won the Music Matters People’s Choice campaign on Facebook as the artist to be flown to Sydney by the Banksia Foundation to perform her song at the Sydney Sofitel’s Wentworth Ballroom to open the 2015 Banksia Awards, a campaign that gained an organic reach of over 23,000 with 3,000 people engaged over the 5 days of voting. Vanessa performed her beautiful song to a room of more than 200 representatives from Australia’s leading sustainability initiatives, including State and Federal Government and CEO’s from the Corporate, NGO, NFP and Community Sectors.
“Being in a room full of so many people making a difference in the world was truly inspiring. To be a part of that… it’s priceless” Vanessa Cox
