Jase Nelson
Music Matters International Talent Scout, Jase Nelson is a Canadian born singer, songwriter and author who turned 13 in August 2015. He has many credits to his name for an artist of such a young age and has performed at over 80 venues in his province of Alberta. Jase has acted on stage and film, worked as a model and is a junior reporter with his local TV cable network. His first children’s book titled “Jake and the Snowman”, a story about a little boy whose snowman comes alive and ends up following Jake where ever he goes, was nominated in the 2015 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards in Michigan, USA.
In September 2015, Jase’s music video for ‘Waking Up’, was nominated for Music Video of the Year with Action on Films International Film Festival and placed in the top 6. He was also invited to perform at the AFIF Festival, which was a great privilege. In August 2015 Jase received the exciting news that ‘Waking Up’, which is a song about young people uniting together in acceptance and equality, has been nominated for an award at the LA Music Awards in Los Angeles coming up in 2016. Jase currently has five songs on iTunes, three originals and two covers, and has completed three music videos, which are available to view on YouTube; one of which is a tribute song he co-wrote to honour Michael Jackson, titled ‘Miss You Michael’.
In 2014 Jase had the opportunity to audition on Broadway in New York City, which encouraged him to continue pursuing his dream of one day being cast in a Broadway production. Currently he is in the final stages of producing a new song that he co-wrote with Buddy Gale from Calgary, Canada, and is preparing to film two more music videos. As of October 2015 Jase’s music video for ‘Waking Up’ has received 12 nominations for Best Music Video at various festivals in Canada and the USA.
Jase’s favourite assignment for 2015 has been his role as International Talent Scout for the Music Matters National show in Melbourne, Australia. Jase says “Assisting in showcasing other young talented musicians has been very gratifying and I look forward to introducing many more up and coming talents in the near future!”
