Tamsin Cantwell
Tamsin Cantwell is a 17-year-old VCE student from Melbourne, who has a shining talent for music. Her first original song ‘Home’ was written when she was 15 years old and it embraces a young person’s sense of security and belonging, when surrounded by the people they love. Tamsin is thrilled that her song ‘Home’ has been chosen to be featured on the Music Matters IOA Charity Album and to add to her excitement, she was recently informed that ‘Home’ has been shortlisted in the youth category of the prestigious Australian Songwriter’s Association competition for 2015.
It is evident that Tamsin’s mature focus and passion is heading her in the right directions for where she wants her music to go. Spreading The Seed, an online forum for emerging artists, recently quoted ‘Home’ as “a powerfully emotive pop ballad that had us wiping away the tears… simply outstanding.”
Tamsin has studied classical piano and acoustic guitar and plays both when she performs. She cites Lauren Aquilina, Gabrielle Aplin and Alicia Keys as her main musical influences and song writing is her greatest passion. Tamsin has plans for a debut EP in 2016 and we look forward to hearing more from her in the future.
