Sophia Chesworth
Sophia Chesworth is a 14 year old alternative country/folk singer songwriter from Sydney, New South Wales. Sophia’s love of singing was apparent as soon as she could talk and she later began lessons from the age of 9. Sophia quickly showed a passion in writing her own music and co-wrote her first song at the age of 11. Since then Sophia began learning guitar and piano to accompany her singing. Sophia is mentored by Roxanne Kiely and Stephen Kiely at Scoop FX Music in Sydney.
Sophia has since written songs covering topics such as bullying, friendships, family and homelessness. In 2014 she was a finalist at the Sydney Catholic Education Performing Arts ‘Have You Got Talent’ grand final singing her composition ‘Stronger’, a song she co-wrote about building resilience from bullying. Sophia was thrilled as this song was also successful in making the Music Matters Charity Album.
Sophia’s songs have been recognised and awarded in several competitions including winning the Youth section of the Tamworth Songwriters Association 2016 National Songwriting Contest, winning ‘Lyrics of the Year’ section as well as making the Top 5 Youth and Lyrics in Songsalive! Australia Song Comp, Top 30 Australian Songwriters Association National Songwriting Contest as well as achieving Highly Commended in Australian Children’s Music Foundation National Songwriting Competition.
“I’m so excited to have Stronger featured on the Music Matters Charity Album as it’s a great cause raising money for young people in need.” Sophia Chesworth.
